Taco Bell chose to make headlines at the South by Southwest (SXSW) Music Festival in Austin, Texas in 2015 by unveiling their first container restaurant. Of course first they chose us to think outside of the bun when coming up with a design that would work as mechanical challenges arose aside from space constraints. We decided that one shipping container would be entirely dedicated to heat rejection equipment—the equipment to heat and cool the store including kitchen equipment, coolers, exhaust fans, etc. was installed in an attractive installation on top of the containers.
The containers arrived fully equipped and ready to be set up within 24 hours of the start of the concert–with no snags! At the close of SXSW, the shipping container store was sent and reassembled in its permanent location in South Gate, California where Taco Bell can continue to make headlines.
