Core States Group Receives “Above and Beyond Award” at Arkansas ESGR’s Bosslift

On June 6, John Ferguson, PE, Senior Director, and Kyle Vance, RCDD, Project Manager – Electrical, represented Core States Group at the Bosslift event at Fort Chaffee in Fort Smith, Arkansas. This experience, sponsored by the Arkansas Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve (ESGR) and the Arkansas National Guard, 39th Brigade, gives employers the opportunity to observe first-hand the professionalism and importance of our country’s Guardsmen. It also serves as a way of thanking in-state employers for their support of Citizen Soldiers and Airmen of the National Guard and Reserve. Kyle, who serves as a 2nd Lieutenant in the Army National Guard, opened this opportunity through his nomination of Core States Group for the Department of Defense Freedom Award.

During Bosslift, Kyle and John had the chance to fly on a UH-60 Blackhawk Helicopter 200 feet above the Fort Chaffee Joint Maneuver Training Center and ranges which they later visited to watch convoy operation demonstrations and partake in hands-on training exercises. The fully immersive experience even included a Meal, Ready-to-Eat (MRE) – a self-contained, prepackaged food ration intended for military members. John’s MRE consisted of macaroni with tomato sauce and a small packet of M&Ms, a nice addition to an exciting and inspiring day.

They concluded the event at the conference center where Core States Group was recognized amongst several Fortune 500 companies by being presented with both the Pro Patria Award and the Above and Beyond Award. The Above and Beyond award highlights employers within the state who have exceeded the legal obligations of the Uniformed Services Employment and Reemployment Rights Act (USERRA) in their support of their National Guard and Reserve employees. The Pro Patria Award commends the company’s leadership and practices, including the adoption of personnel policies that make it easier for employees to participate in the National Guard and Reserve.

Humbled by the experience of learning about the incredible work of our service members, John expressed his gratitude for the recognition on behalf of Core States Group: “I’m proud to be part of an organization that does a great job of supporting our National Guard – to not just do the bare minimum, but to go above and beyond in being a part of their support system in both their civilian and military roles.” During his career at Core States Group, John has worked with several military members and praises the sense of ownership, leadership, commitment, and attention to detail they bring to the team. He is especially grateful to Kyle who continually makes efforts to recognize the company for its efforts in supporting military members outside of their roles at Core States Group.

“Core States Group’s exceptional dedication in providing support for my career and military responsibilities has made it easier for me to maintain balance. Their commitment to job security, constant communication, and comprehensive benefits for my family is truly outstanding.”

– Kyle Vance, RCDD

We are proud to be awarded for our support of military employees and are thankful for the selflessness of our team in their service to our country.
